Cheers for Peers – Virtual Tasting

If you missed our virtual tasting Thursday evening with Woodinville Wine Country. You can watch it here. Winemaker Erica Orr and Owner Lisa Baer shared a summer picnic/BBQ line-up – our 2018 Shard (unoaked Chardonnay), 2019 Rose´, and our flagship 2016 Ursa red blend, all paired with a Tarragon Citrus Chicken Salad.

You can order these wines here for contact-free curbside pick-up or shipping.  Want to pair them with the chicken salad for your next Summer event?  Here is the recipe:

Tarragon Citrus Chicken Salad – 2 Servings

2 Grilled Chicken Breasts or Rotisserie Chicken, Cubed
1/2 Cup Walnuts, Toasted and Chopped
1 Cup Seedless Green Grapes, Halved
Dressing:
1/2 Cup Mayonnaise (Avocado Oil)
1/2 Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream
2 Tbl Champagne Vinegar
1 Tbl Fresh Chopped Tarragon
1 Tbl Grated Lemon Zest
Salt and Pepper to Taste

Mix dressing ingredients in a bowl, reserving half of the chopped tarragon. In separate serving bowl toss chicken, grapes, and walnuts. Pour dressing over and mix lightly. Sprinkle with remaining tarragon and serve with a glass of your favorite Baer wine. We love chilled Rose´!

AdVineTures visits Baer Winery

We recently hosted Chris & Allison Wallace, world travelers and authors of the widely read AdVineTures web site, in our cellar. They were kind enough to report on their visit and their rating of our wine line up (including all the Baer wines and Orr Grenache) to honor Washington Wine Month. Read their post here.

#6 Baer Ursa Columbia Valley 2008
Wine Spectator Top 100 | 2011 | 95 points
Winemaker Lance Baer founded Baer Winery in 2000, producing his wines in Woodinville, Wash., using grapes from Columbia Valley vineyards. After his death in 2007, his sister Lisa and his father, Les, took the reins and hired consulting winemaker Erica Orr. Baer’s signature wine, Ursa, Latin for “bear,” has always been impressive for its suppleness and pure flavors. The 2008, a blend that focuses on Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is the winery’s best wine yet.

#28 Baer Ursa Columbia Valley 2012
Wine Spectator Top 100 | 2015 | 94 points
Ursa has done it again. From a pool of more than 18,000 wines, the editors of Wine Spectator have named the 2012 Ursa as the #28 wine in the world. The winning wines were selected in independent blind tastings based on 4 criteria: quality (represented by score), value (reflected by release price), availability (based on the number of cases made) and what Wine Spectator calls the “X”-factor—or, in other words, the excitement generated by the wine.
